Registration for the 39th edition of the Baloise Antwerp 10 Miles will open on Wednesday 11 December at 11am. The country’s biggest running festival takes place on Sunday 27 April and features three distances. Participants will be able to sign up for 40,000 places.
At the last edition, the 10 miles distance was full weeks before the start of the event. So, if you absolutely want to participate next spring, do not wait too long to register. The Baloise Antwerp 10 Miles programme also includes the 6 km Baloise Antwerp Short Run and the 1.5 km Persil Kids Run.
All distances start on Gloriantlaan and finish on August Vermeylenlaan, on the Left Bank. Participants in the 10 miles traditionally run through the Kennedy Tunnel to the city centre and return to the Left Bank via the Waasland Tunnel. The detailed course will be unveiled later.
Mayor Bart De Wever: “The 10 Miles are of course right at the top of my list of New Year’s resolutions. As a good start is half the battle, I hope to stick to a good training schedule. But I already know that at least my many fellow runners will take me in tow and help me cross the finish line feeling good. Do me and especially yourself a favour by joining me at the start of this high day of running. Enjoy the holidays first, then the preparation can start in earnest. See you at the start!”
Councillor for Sport Peter Wouters: “The day of the 10 Miles is always a succession of highlights, but nothing can match the goose-bump moment when tens of thousands of sports enthusiasts make the biggest running party in Flanders erupt completely. I can only recommend it. So, sign up and get carried away on the wave of togetherness and enthusiasm that drives the 10 Miles through Antwerp time and again.”
Baloise Antwerp Park Miles: the ideal preparation
A good warm-up for the Baloise Antwerp 10 Miles is the Baloise Antwerp Park Miles, on Sunday 26 January. Over the last few years, this park run of 5, 10 or 21 km has become the unofficial start of the new running year as well as a popular preparation race for the Baloise Antwerp 10 Miles. Start and finish are in Park Groot Schijn, on Ruggeveldlaan in Deurne. All loops pass through the eastern outskirts of Antwerp, with its many beautiful parks. 70% of the course is unpaved.
